5 Tips for Long, Healthy Hair

People often ask how I maintain such long, healthy hair and the answer is pretty simple.

Here are my 5 every day hair tips:

1. DRINK VITAL PROTEINS COLLAGEN PEPTIDES

Collagen Peptides are said to improve hair, skin, nails, joint, ligaments, and tendons. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder is supposed to be tasteless, but I can definitely taste it in my green tea, so I prefer to mix my Collagen Peptides Powder with cold-pressed juice in the mornings. If I don’t have juice readily available, I will mix my VP Collagen Peptides Powder with my Vega Choc-a-lot Protein Smoothie Powder post-workout. I honestly think it makes my protein shake taste better. I don’t know how, but just trust me! Bonus: you add 18g of protein to your shake!

2. TAKE A MULTIVITAMIN EVERY MORNING WITH BREAKFAST

I FINALLY found a multivitamin that doesn’t make me nauseous and I recommend it to everyone! I currently take Women’s One Multivitamin by Rainbow Light every morning with my breakfast. Made with organic fruits and vegetables, this multivitamin is gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian. I purchased mine from Whole Foods!

3. WASH AND CONDITION YOUR HAIR WITH A LAVENDER SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

Studies show lavender essential oil stimulates hair growth while calming the scalp. I’ve found washing and conditioning my hair with a Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner has helped keep my hair long and healthy. I currently use the 365 Everyday Value Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner from Whole Foods, but I have used Paul Mitchell’s Lavender Mint Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner before. If I wasn’t allergic to mint, I would use it daily! Showers before bed will always be my favorite because the gentle scent of lavender eases all stress and anxiety and puts me right to sleep.

Extra Tip: Sleep with a dried lavender sachet underneath your pillow. The soothing scent will further help you relax and aid in sleep.

4. USE A WET BRUSH + REDKEN’S ONE UNITED SPRAY TO DETANGLE WET HAIR

Growing up brushing my hair was always my worst nightmare because it gets tangled so easily. A few years ago, my mom gifted me a wet brush and it has forever changed my life. The wet brush + Redken’s One United All-In-One Multi-Benefit Hair Treatment Spray has really helped keep my hair manageable and easy to brush post-shower. So thankful I found this combo! I’m telling you, it’s been a life / hair changer!

5. AVOID BLEACHING & PERMANENT HAIR COLOR

I used to bleach and dye my hair ALL. THE. TIME. I’m talking every couple months I had a different hair color. My hair has been blonde to black and every color in between, including pink and turquoise. As fun as it may seem, I do not recommend it! I’m a firm believer now that God purposefully gave us the hair color we are meant to have. Can we tweak it a little bit? ABSOLUTELY! I do! Just be smart about it. I use a semi-permanent Aveda color that fades every 3-4 weeks. This means no harsh lines, less maintenance, and healthy hair.

A few of my girlfriends have adopted one, if not ALL, of these tips into their haircare routine and have seen results! Keep me updated on your hair journey and if you have any tips, I would love for you to comment below!
